Catherine Barnard

Professor of European Union Law at the University of Cambridge

Professor Catherine Barnard is Professor of European Union Law and the Jean Monnet Chair of EU Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge. Her research interests include European Union law, labour and discrimination law, and competition law.

She has an MA from the University of Cambridge, an LL.M. from the European University Institute, and a PhD from Cambridge. Professor Barnard is a Fellow of Trinity College.

Polish Social Security Institution (ZUS)

President of Polish Social Security Institution, head of Department of Social Security (Institute of Social Policy of the University of Warsaw), professor at the Department of Labour Law and Social Safety Net in the Institute of Labour and Social Studies, member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Committee on Labour Law and Social Policy). Expert in research programmes and scentific research institutes of EU Member States (University of Antwerp, Ghent University, Max Planck Institute) according to implementation of European programmes (e.g. Consensus, Special, LAW, trESS, FreSsco). Expert in national and international projects, author of multiple interesting publications about social policy, social security coordination, social insurance and European law.

Zsolt Darvas

PhD, Senior Fellow at the Brussels-based think-tank Bruegel

PhD, is a Senior Fellow at the Brussels-based think-tank Bruegel. He is also Senior Research Fellow at the Corvinus University of Budapest, where he teaches courses in Econometrics since 1994 and hold a Ph.D. in Economics. He was the Research Advisor of the Argenta Financial Research Group in Budapest (2005-2008). He worked at the research unit of the Central Bank of Hungary (1994-2005) where he served as Deputy Head during 2001-2005. He had visiting researcher positions at the Bank of Finland, Deutsche Bundesbank, De Nederlandsche Bank, Stockholm School of Economics and Bruegel, and worked for research projects of the EC, EP, the OECD, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. His research interests include macroeconomics, finance and time series analysis. His current works focus on policy-related issues, such as the European economic governance, financial integration and development, income inequality and inclusive growth, estimation of real-time reliable output gaps and aggregation-theoretic measurement of money.

Magdalena Bernaciak

PhD, Senior researcher at the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI)

Senior Researcher at the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) in Brussels. Her academic interests lie in the political economy of EU eastern enlargement, industrial relations in Central-Eastern Europe, and transnational relations among trade unions. Magdalena holds MA degrees in International Relations/ European Studies and in Political Science. She completed her PhD studies in Political Science at Central European University, Budapest. She was also a visiting fellow at the Institute for Economic and Social Research (WSI) in Düsseldorf and the University of Warwick’s Industrial Relations Research Unit (IRRU).

Frederic de Wispelaere

Senior research associate at Institute for Work and Society KU Leuven HIVA

He holds a Master in Business Administration (EHSAL – Brussels) and a Master in corporate law (Ghent University – Law Faculty).
He is currently involved in the Network Statistics on free movement of workers, social security coordination and fraud and error. This network is set up by the European Commission DG EMPL to collect and analyse statistics and administrative data on those three fields. Within this network he is among others responsible for the annual report on the posting of workers. Furthermore he has published several papers and reports on the use and impact of posting from a perspective of sending and receiving Member States.
