Marianne Thyssen

European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility

 

European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility since November 2014. She obtained a degree in law at the Catholic University of Leuven (1979). She was successively legal adviser, head of a research department and acting Secretary-General at UNIZO (a Belgian organisation for the self-employed and small and medium-sized businesses). She entered European Parliament in 1991 and was re-elected 5 times. During her almost 23 years as a member of European Parliament, she mainly focused on economic and social issues. Between 2008 and 2010 she was also the President of her party, CD&V (the Flemish Christian Democrats in Belgium).

Mijke Houwerzijl

Professor of European and Comparative Labour Law at Tilburg University

 

Dr. Mijke Houwerzijl (F) is a professor of Labour Law at Tilburg University and chairs the Department of Labour Law and Social Policy at Tilburg Law School. Mijke Houwerzijl was appointed at Tilburg Law School as a professor in November 2011. She also holds a chair in comparative and European labour law at the University of Groningen (since 2010) and chairs the Dutch department of the International society for Labour and Social Security Law (ISLSSL).
Mijke Houwerzijl has published widely on legal aspects of labour mobility within the EU, with an emphasis on posted workers mobility, labour migration and issues of compliance and enforcement of labour law and social security law. She has been involved in many national and international research projects, e.g. as a lead researcher and coordinator in major commissioned research projects of the European Commission on posting of workers and the protection of workers’ rights in situations of subcontracting.

Magdalena Bernaciak is a Senior Researcher at the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) in Brussels. Her academic interests lie in the socioeconomic aspects of EU eastern enlargement and industrial relations in Central-Eastern Europe.

 

Magdalena completed her PhD studies in Political Science at Central European University in Budapest. She was also a visiting fellow at the Institute for Economic and Social Research (WSI) in Düsseldorf and the University of Warwick’s Industrial Relations Research Unit (IRRU)

Frederic de Wispelaere

HIVA KU Leuven Senior Researcher

Frederic De Wispelaere is currently senior research associate at HIVA-KU Leuven . He holds a Master in Business Administration (EHSAL – Brussels) and a Master in corporate law (Ghent University – Law Faculty).

He is currently involved in the Network Statistics on free movement of workers, social security coordination and fraud and error. This network is set up by the European Commission DG EMPL to collect and analyse statistics and administrative data on those three fields. Within this network he is among others responsible for the annual report on the posting of workers. Furthermore he has published several papers and reports on the use and impact of posting from a perspective of sending and receiving Member States.

Robert Lisicki

Law graduate of the Warsaw University. He completed his legal counsel’s training in The Circuit Chamber of Legal Counsel in Warsaw and obtained his legal counsel qualifications.

 

In 2004-2016 he worked in Labour Law Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, where since 2013 he held the post of Chief of International Labour Law Department. Gilles Savary

French politician and former Member of the European Parliament.

Author of the 2014 French law preventing dumping social by tackling illegal posting of workers.

Gilles Savary is a member of the French National Assembly since June 2013. He has been rapporteur on the French railway reform. He is also Chairman of the Board of Civil Aviation since December 2012.From 1999 to 2009, he was a member of the Committee on Transport, Tourism and Regional Policy of the European Parliament. From 2004 to October 2013, he was Vice-Chairman of the Gironde Departmental Council.
